Top 10 Things to Do in Florida That Aren’t Disney

In this Friday episode of Simple Joe, I’m getting ready for a couple of weeks in Florida, so I’m having some fun with a Top 10 list of things to do in Florida that aren’t Disney or any other amusement park. And yes, Disney people, we’re still friends. I talk about why Florida means more to me than theme parks, share some of the places and experiences that make the state worth exploring, give a personal plug to Fun Cat Sailing in Ponce Inlet, and explain why Daytona Beach has become such an important place for me because of all the memories I’ve made there. I also love the idea of watching the sunrise over the Atlantic and then crossing the state to watch the sunset over the Gulf in the same day. Along the way, there’s plenty of conversation about birthdays, Black Sabbath, KISS, Rice Krispies Treats, tradespeople, manatees, snorkeling with a barracuda nearby, and even whether I finally need to get Apple TV just so I can watch Ted Lasso. Mostly, though, this episode is about getting out, seeing something new, spending time with people you care about, and remembering that great memories are worth a whole lot more than more stuff.
